1. Job Title: SENIOR LIBRARY OFFICER I (1 Post) – Library Services and Information Management (DLIM)
(a) Reports to: Director of Library Services and Information Management
(b) Job Summary: The purpose of the post is to assist the Director of Library Services and Information Management in the performance of duties pertaining to administration of library services and information management.
(c) Skills and Abilities: A qualified candidate for this position shall possess the following skills and abilities:
(i) Ability to develop a vision, mission and direction for the University in library services and information
management; (ii) Ability to interpret and promote the University’s key academic functions and objectives; (iii) Ability to stimulate and encourage new ideas and developments through motivation and support for staff and
students; (iv) Skills in strategic management, communication, interpersonal, public relations and negotiations; (v) Ability to influence, persuade and build coalitions and networks; and (vi) Innovative in developing and deploying technology of teaching and learning.
(d) Qualification: Holder of Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies or Digital Library Learning from a recognized Institution. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 in a 5-point scale in undergraduate degree and a minimum GPA of 4.0 on a 5-point scale for a Master’s degree or equivalent.
(e) Experience: A minimum of nine (9) years of relevant work experience of which three (3) years must be at managerial level. Competence in information communication technology, communication skills and managerial skills will be added advantage.
(f) Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Library Officer I shall be responsible to the Director of Library Services and Information Management for the efficient and effective performance of duties and responsibilities pertaining to library service and information management. He/she shall specifically be responsible for the following: (i) Supervises junior library staff in a given section; (ii) Supervises the shelving of books and periodicals; (iii) Assists in the establishment and organization of mini-libraries in departments; (iv) Undertakes library project work; (v) Identifies users’ book requirements; and (vi) Performs any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by competent authority.
(g) Salary Scale: Staff salary rank plus duty post allowance according to SJUT Scheme of Service

2. Job Title: ASSISTANT LECTURERS (3 Posts) – School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPH) –

(f) Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Lecturer shall be responsible to the Dean, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPH) for efficiently and effectively preparing and delivering own teaching materials, applying problem solving and innovating skills, and recognizing those having difficulties, intervening and providing help and support. 4. Job Title: COMMUNICATION AND MARKETING MANAGER
(a) Reports to: Vice Chancellor.
(b) Job Summary: The purpose of the post is to assist the Vice Chancellor in the performance of duties pertaining to
internal and external communication, marketing, partnership development and public relations.
(c) Skills and Abilities: A qualified candidate for this position shall possess the following skills and abilities:
(i) Ability to develop a vision, mission and direction for the University in communication and marketing strategies; (ii) Ability to interpret and promote the University’s communication and marketing functions and objectives; (iii) Ability to stimulate and encourage new ideas and developments through motivation and support for staff and
students; (iv) Skills in strategic management, communication, interpersonal, public relations and negotiations; (v) Ability to influence, persuade and build coalitions and networks; (vi) Ability to effectively contribute/function in a Christian Institution of higher learning; and (vii) Significant familiarity with the Anglican Church of Tanzania set up and adequate knowledge of the higher
education sector nationally and internationally. (d) Qualification: Holder of a Master’s degree in Communication, Corporate Communications, Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing Communication, or equivalent, from a recognized institution; must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 in a 5-point scale in undergraduate degree and a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 5-point scale for a Master’s degree or equivalent.
(e) Experience: At least with a minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience in a senior managerial
position.
(f) Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communication and Marketing Manager shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the efficient and effective performance of duties and responsibilities pertaining to communications, marketing, public relations and fundraising. He/she shall specifically be responsible for the following: (i) Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a viable marketing, communications, fund raising and public relations strategy that will enhance the University’s image and position within the marketplace and the general public and facilitate internal and external communications; (ii) Supports the Vice Chancellor in managing relations with Alumni, the Anglican Church, the Government of Tanzania, international entities, and international partners, and keeping them adequately informed about and properly involved with the developments of the University; (iii) In consultation with the Vice Chancellor, the Deputy Vice Chancellors and other relevant staff, develops and
recommends an annual plan for the Communication and Marketing function; (iv) Develops and manages corporate communication strategies for the University, including regular publication of Serve, SJUT newsletter, branding, and production of suitable publicity material such as annual calendar, brochures, and media advertisements; (v) Provides strong, effective and highly visible leadership to the Communications and Marketing function including
managing media relations in order to ensure articulation of the University’s desired image and position; (vi) Ensures that the University community at large is kept abreast with significant events and processes within and
outside the University; (vii) Develops and implements a strategy that effectively markets the University and educates the public in terms of
issues and maximizes the University’s fundraising efforts;
(viii) Develops and maintains a strong and productive relationship with both print and electronic media and ensures the University is understood by the media and the media are interested in presenting information to the public in a manner that informs and educates them on the University; (ix) Effectively uses audiovisual, electronic, print and social media to maintain high level publicity and a strong and
positive image of the University; (x) Coordinates market research activities in order to keep abreast of changing demographics and other relevant issues in order to evaluate marketing and communication activities and to monitor emerging issues in order to keep abreast of all trends in the industry; (xi) Ensures appropriate and effective documentation of events of significant relevance to the University including
maintaining photographic and audiovisual records of such events; (xii) Manages the University’s participation at events relevant or intended for higher education institutions; and (xiii) Performing any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Vice Chancellor or a competent

5. Job Title: ICT HELP DESK / USER SUPPORT (1 Post) – Centre for Information and Communication
Technology (CICT)
(a) Reports to: Director, Centre for Information and Communication Technology (CICT)
(b) Duty Station: SJUT Main Campus, Mazengo – Dodoma
(c) Job Summary: With guidance from senior staff, will be assisting staff and students alike in simple to handle
technical issues.
(d) Qualification: Holder of a Certificate in Computer Applications or Computer Sciences. An applicant with Essentials
of IT Certificate would be an added advantage.
(e) Experience: With a minimum of three (3) years working experience.
(f) Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The ICT Help Desk/User Support shall be responsible to the Director, Centre for Information and Communication Technology (CICT) for the efficient and effective supporting staff and students alike with first hand computer skills and recognizing those having difficulties, intervene and provide help and support. He/she shall specifically be responsible, for: (i) Serving as the first point of contract for staff/students seeking technical assistance; (ii) Performing remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions; (iii) Determining the best solution based on the issue and details provided by staff/students; (iv) Assisting the staff/students through the problem-solving process; (v) Directing unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel; (vi) Recording events and problems and their resolution in logs; (vii) Following-up and updating staff/students and information; and (viii) Performing any other duties pertaining to teaching, research and consultancy as may be prescribed by the
